"Printmedien Bayern" was published in spring 2017 by the four main printing confederations in Bavaria in order to deliver insights into the various trends and challenges of the printing industry. Storyboard was responsible for the design, picture editing and realisation of the magazine.
Due to the various printing companies, publishing houses, production agencies and research institutes to be found in the region, Bavaria is truely a Land of Printing. To underline this varity in the printing and media industry and their continious development, the four main printing confederations decided to join forces to a common project – the magazine "Printmedien Bayern".
In collaboration with the Bavarian printing confederations, Storyboard was responsible for the design and layout of "Printmedien Bayern". The team, consisting of art directors, photo editors and designers, developed a consistent visual style that keeps the different perspectives and contents in sync and aligned. Graphical elements like the black-and-white illustrations (by Claudia Klein) and infographics at the end of each content section (by Pia Bublies) ensure a comprehensible and readable flow of the magazine.
The authors of "Printmedien Bayern" include representatives and decision makers from the Bavarian printing and media industry. This allows for different perspectives on a sector that develops continiously. Among the stories publilshed in the magazine is a profile of the Bavarian minister of economic affairs, Ilse Aigner, in which she describes the importance of printed media as being one of the main drivers for cultural and economy growth in the region. Other stories include editor-in-chief of the magazine "ADAC motorwelt" Martin Kunz delivering insights on the transformation coming from changing reader interests, and a piece on the Bavarian printing house Vogl, focusing on new challanges and techniques, using the example of LE-UV printing technology.
