Each issue of M-Puls presents three special Munich residents: people with a connection to SWM who make the city a better place with their ideas. Sebastian Arlt photographed the people and projects in issue 01/2020 for us.

Martin Lammers is immediately on the spot whenever there is a fire: besides his day job as a professional buyer for structural engineering at SWM, he is a volunteer at the Munich fire brigade.

"I'm a crewman, so I'm in the back of the fire engine or I'm assigned as a driver. Whereas in the past the fire brigade was only called out for fires, today we have many more tasks, for example in traffic accidents, storms or when leakages of chemical substances occur."

Five students in front of building

Borja Sánchez, Haochun Ma, Laura Steinke, Raúl Berganza Gómez and Keesiu Wong are promoting digitalization. These five students are supported by Think Digital, a scholarship provided by IBC e.V. for lateral thinkers and visionaries, which is sponsored by the SWM.

Fitness trainer sitting on bench in a gym

Hana Gauch is keeping Munich fit and healthy: For 20 years the trainer has been giving courses for "Fit in the park" – a free sports program that takes place in four different parks in Munich.

"The courses are available in Luitpoldpark, Westpark, Ostpark and Riemer Park every day at 6 p.m., also on Sundays and public holidays. There is a wide range of courses to choose from, including zumba and fitness gymnastics as well as pilates and qigong."
